Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge battery life as you think

When we first picked up the edge of the Samsung Galaxy S25, we liked its thin frame carefully. However, we soon turned our wonder as soon as we saw 3900 mAh battery capacity. This is not small, but it is a very conservative cell for a pioneering smartphone 2025, especially tall and wide like Galaxy S25 Plus.

For comparison, the S25 Plus has a large cell of 4900 mAh, while the compact Galaxy S25 combined Galaxy S25 before the edge with 4000 mAh per hour. But it is also worth noting that the edge features a larger screen with a lifelong QHD and a more than a more demanding camera – factors that can all attract more energy than those in the regular S25.

Samsung itself claims that the edge should have a battery life somewhere between the Galaxy S24 and S25, but our test has found that this is somewhat optimistic. Let’s take a look at the results of our automatic battery life tests, all of which were made in the brightness of a consistent screen of 300 groups. For comparison, we also tested both models of the S24, as well as the S25 and S25 Plus.

Unfortunately, Galaxy S25 Edge is less than performance in all areas. It records less minutes than the Galaxy S25 in each test and prices worse than the Galaxy S24 series in most categories – except for our enlargement call test, as it exceeds the Snapdragon version of the Galaxy S24. It also matches the Exynos model in 4K registration and enlargement tests. The only conclusive result throughout the painting is at the time of capturing the camera, as all phones were performed similar. Otherwise, the performance gap is large and outside the margin of error. It is clear that the life battery is lower than its siblings.

In fact, the battery life in the real world at the edge is much worse than the 100 mAh teams apparently with the compact Galaxy S25. On average, I calculate a decrease of approximately 20 % in video recording and play age compared to the normal S25, and a 27 % worse performance in the duration of the zoom call. Web browsing performance was a little better, with only about 8 % decreased, but this is still worse than the battery size will lead to its expectation.

Specific edge specifications drain 3900 mAh battery faster than S25.

The software improvement may play a role, but the larger and most obvious screen in EDGE draws the power of more than the regular S25. Besides the smaller battery, this is a recipe for the disappointing screen time.

Put the comparisons aside for a moment, let’s focus on the time on the same screen. Based on our tests, Galaxy S25 Edge provides about four hours of continuous content capture, seven to eight hours of moderate use (such as web browsing and video calls), and up to 17 hours of video playing 4K. These numbers are not terrible in isolation, but an hour or two falls behind her brothers. Keep in mind that this is under the ideal conditions outside the box. Add background tasks, use heavy data, games, and quickly deteriorate.

It is well -cut it is cheap, and there is no head space for the health of the battery health here.

Samsung built the edge with a battery capacity that it cuts very well for a full day of use. Although Galaxy S25 Edge may manage modest use today, he thought about how to perform it after two or three years, especially at a price point of $ 1100. A modest decrease to 90 % of the original battery capacity after two years may already be able to clarify the troubles; A decrease to 80 % will make you reach a charger before the end of the day.

In addition, we noticed frequently heating the delicate metal frame during use, which not only speeds up the battery deterioration but can also cause the battery to empty ineffectively and increase self -emptying. This may explain the reason why the phone appears in particular in difficult tests, such as our zoom call, and why Samsung sticks to the slow 25W charging again.

Either way, it didn’t take a crystal ball to predict the battery fears with the Galaxy S25 Edge, but now we have data to prove it. If you are planning to keep your next phone for a few years, you may want to stay away from the pioneer from Samsung.
