At the Google I/O Deleper conference this week, Google has recently confirmed some details about the long -awaited desktop feature for Android phones. The company has not only confirmed that it is building a new desktop experience for external offers connected, but this experience will be available for testing soon in the next quarterly Beta Android.
Earlier this month, Android salad It revealed that Google is developing the DEX desktop -like desktop. This feature provides an intuitive desktop -like interface on external screens, with a task for launching installed or modern apps in Windows FreeForm. It depends on the foundations of the desktop developed by Google for tablets in the first semester version of Android 15, but it adds additional options to take into account the fact that these features that are shown now appear on an external screen instead of an internal screen.
During the GOOGLE I/O 2025 keyword, Google has revealed that the new Android desktop mode is built on the basis of Samsung Dex.

Google has also confirmed that it brings many improvements to how Android is processing external screens. The company says that Android 16 adds, “Supporting the Basic System for Related Offers”, probably referring to the external -like external latitudes that we discovered again in March.

During the conversation, the developer also shared some additional details on how the new desktop mode works in Android 16. For example, the developer revealed that the minimum window size is 386 x 352 DP, and applications can create customized heads, and that when devices supported by desktop such as external screen tablets are connected, the desktop session will be extended across both of the two shows.
On all devices that support the new Windowing Desktop mode, internal and external offers work independently, as applications are for the offer they are working on. Windows operating system, content and mouse index can move freely between screens.
The improved Android desktop capabilities for phones and supportive support for external screens are not available in the latest version of Android 16 QPR1 Beta 1. We don’t know whether it will be available in Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2, but it is certainly possible.
