Previously, I recorded the history of hybrid robots in insects “A summary of insects CYBORG (and spiders)”.
I gave a quick update a year ago “Cyborg insects update: amazing cockroaches, vital robots and siburg in recent years.”
So far in 2025, I noticed two new stories about Cyborg insects. Both these two projects come from Japan.
Insect
Technical summaries It was recently reported that biomedical robot research using a stick insect at the University of Tuoku. The research was actually conducted in 2023.

They did not actually leave the Ciburg stick wandering around it, as they were attached to a piece of wood. However, their experiences showed a more accurate way to control the torque of the insect joints when stimulating their muscles electrically.
More cockroaches
According to a press release:
Cybleg insects have a lot of advantages on traditional robots. Energy consumption is less than a problem, so it is easier to reduce it, and they are somewhat “pre -built”. However, research on CYBORG insects is limited to simple environments, such as flat surfaces that are completed with external devices to help move. The research team wanted to find out if the Cyborg insect could navigate in a more complex environment and a real world.
This research came with mobility algorithms for ignition for electronic violations. But it is not all control of the radio – it is supposed to be independent. They benefit from natural cockroaches capabilities such as climbing walls to create a “biological” behavior.
